Let It Go Into The Hands Of Strangers is Alan Darragh's fifth album and the first of 2009.

It is a rich meal and not a light snack. It takes some listening to – incongruous contrasts, inspired melodies, incredibly strong structural moments, creative in a non-sequential way.

Melodic breaks give way to harsh dissonance. Straightforward jazz slides into improvisation with little regard for key and time signatures. Yet there is a strong sense of the whole throughout.

This solo piano album of sonic improvisations is ethereal, spacy with a musical edge that is pure theatre.

What you hear is what was played and recorded without effects or postproduction mixing or mastering. The studio PianoPort is surpassing all expectations. It is capturing the full range of resonance and ringing of the piano during recording. The results are close to live dynamics.

The nine piano solo improvisations on Let It Go Into The Hands Of Strangers were played on Alan's Kawai RX-2 acoustic 5ft 10-inch grand piano, which is kept finely tuned by master tuner Jamie Musselwhite.
