Jump Into The Night  is contemporary improvisation at its most melodic. Alan Darragh creates melodies on the fly that stick in your mind. Adam David’s drumming shadows closely with its hefty percussive creativity.  Alan says, "Although I come from a jazz background, this CD is not always strictly in the jazz genre.  It’s a little bit of everything, which when you come to think about it, is what jazz used to be all about."  It’s improvisation based on intuition and listening. It's all about the interplay between two fearless musicians.

All eleven tracks on this album were recorded live over the year, spanning the summer of 2007 to that of 2008. What you hear, with the exception of a bit of editing to tidy up the odd bit of flotsam, is unadulterated improvisation.  There's no overdubbing, editing or extra tracks added in postproduction.

Wednesdays usually found Alan and Adam deep in musical converse at Despot Studio, the recording gear ready to capture new ideas and songs. Alan says, "When I sit down at the piano I bring no preconceived plan to the session as to what the outcome is going to be. Each song literally comes out of my head as I play. There are the occasional drawbacks to playing off the top of my head. Sometimes the chord structures could be more complex and sophisticated. Although Adam and I occasionally work from a loosely set rhythm line, generally I prefer to stay away from strictly metronomic patterns because it feels unnatural."
